It's been so lovely and mild this week, although all the cynical old-timers assure me that it often snows in April. For now though we can leave hats and gloves at home, and the wind in my face feels even a little warm.
Last weekend I visited a shop called Bombay Bazaar (pics above) - it was like being back in India. Everything there was imported. Really fun, and a busy shop too. Then I took Lucas to the toddler gym, an enormous space with mats, trampolines, a pit with foam blocks for jumping in, safe climbing constructions, and a massive bouncy castle. He absolutely loved it, got stuck somewhere in the climbing thing so I had to clamber up to save him (no sooner were we back down or he wanted to go back up again) and he of course patently refused to leave when it closed at 5. Even my not unreasonable argument that there was no one under the age of 20 left in the building cut no ice with him.Grrrr. I asked the daycare staff if Lucas was more wilful than other children, she thought about this for a bit then said "No but he is more vocal about it". That's my boy.
Tomorrow Lucas is going to spend the evening with his aunt while I go for dinner with friends/colleagues. We are going to an Irish pub - not my first choice of establishment but hey. On Tuesday night I was out for dinner as well - for work. I went and gatecrashed a business event about China to see if we could organise something similar about India. I love the creative side of my job, always having to come up with new ideas, to raise money for language teaching or cultural events, and to reach out to different parts of the community. Today though I have to write a budget projection - less exciting though I may well have to resort to some creative accounting. :-)
