Bratfest 2009

This weekend was Memorial Day weekend. Memorial day is like Remembrance Sunday in the UK, and to symbolise the red poppy people plant red geraniums. We all went to Lucas' grandfather's grave some 25 miles outside of Madison (North I think, I could check a map I guess lol) and planted red geraniums as he is a WWII veteran. I can handle gardening if it's a group effort and lasts 1 hour max. It was a really nice day and Lucas liked looking at all the farm machines and animals on the way. Yesterday my friend Jim and I went to the Bratfest. Brat as in bratwurst, not spoilt little toddler though amazingly we had one of those as well! The Bratfest used to be held in a local shop but now it has migrated to an exhibition centre and they sold over 200,000 sausages!! We queued for half an hour but the result was good. Lucas had a hot dog. There were lots of rides, we went on the carousel twice and we also clambered through tunnels and ballpits and then went down a huge slide. I think we had fun but I'm glad we won't need to go now for another year. Lucas is still loving his daycare, they started singing the ABC song which goes 'ee ee ee ma ma ma' and when I sing it the 'right' way Lucas gets annoyed with me. Can't wait for puberty! :-) He also sometimes sits on the potty so he is getting to be a big boy. He remains utterly adorable. I had a couple of social dos last week so Lucas spent a few evenings with his aunt, this week we are having a break from socialising and just hang out together in the evenings. The weather is getting lovely so we usually go to a playground after school (there are so many round here) and have fun. Next Sunday is the annual picnic organised by, wait for it, the Dutch club of Madison. Yessirree! Can't wait to report back on that so watch this space :-).
