In which Lucas takes some photos and learns to use the toilet

Hi all! Wow how fast do the weeks fly by?! We've been back 5 weeks!! I cannot believe it. Everything is in overdrive here as our Federal Grant proposal notice came out last week and it's all go now until the 23rd of March. Actually the first draft has to have been done by the end of this month so it's all systems go. I'm really enjoying the challenge but, as they say, failure is not an option.

All the pics apart from the first one Lucas has taken on my iPhone. Or rather his iPhone which I occasionally get to use! I think he did a pretty good job and it shows where his interests lie!

Lucas has made amazing progress with his toilet training, in the beginning it was haphazard and he was definitely lazy about it but then somehow it clicked into place for him and we're pretty much done. He still needs a lot of prompting when we're out of the house but when we're home he knows exactly when it is time. Away from home I have to remind him a lot, and also have to carry a little toilet seat with me - oh the glamour of parenting! But I am very proud of him for having been so easy-going about it, at least so far so good! I have signed him up for a really great preschool program from September onwards, a lovely place with a dining room (yay! no more packed lunches and wondering what the teacher is going to make of yet another ketchup sandwich) and an indoor gym where the kids get to run around even in winter. I've been happy with his current place but he needs a change and he also needs the extra space. He is super-energetic (that's the nice way of putting it) so he needs a lot of exercise. A lot!!

Although I have been very busy with work there has been some time for play - I went to see a George Clooney film with a friend a few weeks back, and had friends round for dinner last weekend. This evening we went to a party - I took Lucas along - and tomorrow evening he will be with his aunt Jane while I watch the women's basketball from the Chancellor's box in the stadium! Should be the real University of Wisconsin experience!!
